Understand your land through satellite and climate data — simply.
What is SOILSENSE?
SOILSENSE is a web-based tool that helps farmers, landowners, and rural innovators understand their land through satellite and climate data — in a simple, conversational way.
We connect free Earth observation data (Copernicus Sentinel, climate datasets, open environmental sources) with an AI assistant that translates complex environmental information into clear insights.
No technical expertise required.
Why SOILSENSE?
Across Europe, environmental data exists. Satellite imagery exists. Climate records exist. But for many landowners and rural actors, these data remain difficult to interpret and use.
SOILSENSE helps bridge that gap.
We believe that understanding your land should not require advanced GIS knowledge, programming skills, or a scientific background.
It should require curiosity.
How It Works
Define Your Area
Upload a shapefile or draw your land area directly on the map.
We Retrieve the Data
SOILSENSE connects to open Earth observation datasets — Sentinel-2 vegetation indices, climate variables (temperature, precipitation, soil moisture, radiation), and historical time series. All processing happens securely in the cloud.
Explore Your Land Over Time
Visualize daily or monthly time series of vegetation dynamics, weather variables, and soil-related indicators. Track how your land has evolved across seasons and years.
Ask the AI Assistant
Our AI assistant helps you understand what the data means, what patterns are visible, what changes may be significant, and what questions you should ask next. It does not replace science — it helps translate it.
What You Can Do
- Monitor vegetation trends
- Compare seasons across years
- Identify drought or stress periods
- Understand climate variability on your plot
- Prepare for funding applications with data support
- Build data literacy around your land
What SOILSENSE Is (and Is Not)
SOILSENSE is:
- A data access and interpretation tool
- A bridge between Earth observation science and real users
- A prototype focused on accessibility and transparency
SOILSENSE is not:
- A predictive model (yet)
- A replacement for agronomic expertise
- A black-box AI making decisions for you
We show the data. We help you understand it. You remain in control.
Built on Open Data
SOILSENSE uses publicly funded European data sources, including Copernicus Sentinel satellite data, ECMWF climate data, and open environmental datasets.
We believe publicly funded data should be publicly understandable.
Who Is It For?
Why “SOILSENSE”?
The name SOILSENSE brings together two ideas: the soil we care for, and the ability to make sense of the signals that come from it. We turn satellite imagery, climate data, and field boundaries into insights that anyone can read and act on.
Our goal is to help people read their land more clearly:
